A
104-year-old man and his 100-year-old wife in southern China claim they
have one of the world's longest marriages after celebrating their 83rd
wedding anniversary.
The couple are considering
applying to the Guinness Book of World Records to have their marriage
recorded as the world's longest.
Huang Fu and his wife Gan, from a
village in Guangzhou, married when he was 21 and she was 17, according
to the Hong Kong edition of the China Daily.
The couple have six sons, four
still living, and live with four generations of their family who make up
60 residents - or a third of the population of Shanhu Village, Chini
Town - where they live.
They may, however, have to stay
married for a few years more before they can claim the title, however.
Another couple only last November successfully recorded the world's
longest marriage with Guinness after marking 85 years of matrimony.
Liu Yung-yang, 103, and his wife
Yang Wan, 102, from Taoyuan, northern Taiwan, married in April 1917.
The
chief reason why marriage is rarely a success
is that it is contracted while the partners are insane.

In celebration of Valentine's Day,
here is a love story. In fact it is the longest love story in Australian
history.
In 1923, a young farmer named Wes
Arney from Werrimul near Mildura in Victoria met a young South
Australian school teacher called Venetta.
The fell in love and married and remain so today. Both Wes and Vanetta,
or Pater and Mater as they became known, are 100 years old, but still
have eyes
only for each other.
During their 79 year marriage, they have had 5 children, 17
grandchildren, 41
great grandchildren and more than 10 great great grandchildren.
Kevin Arney and wife Bev told the ABC's Kathryn Crawford about this very
special
relationship.
I
have great hopes that we shall love each other all
our lives as much as if we had never married at all. ~Lord
Byron
I love being
married. It's so great to find that one special person
you want to annoy for the rest of your life. ~Rita

Bigamy is
having one husband or wife too many.
Monogamy is the same. ~Oscar
